Questions

Room 4 - Kitchen

8 Questions for Us

Hey. We decided to go back at room 4 for the day - the corpo penthouse in Tokyo - and answer some questions. We just got done working out in the nice gym room this place has got. Now we're cooking a solid meal. You have no idea how satisfying cooking in this kitchen is, everything is so high-end and the ingredients we found in the fridge are top quality. Can't wait to eat. By the way, we're making a gourmet version of salmon, qinoa salad & rice. For drinks, we'll have a bottle each of iced tea.

1. How did we end up in Maison Pācem?

We popped into it. There was this stubborn plank of wood in our bedroom back at the boarding school. Once we stubbed our toes enough time on it we agreed on removing it. And we just started pulling hard together, until I saw my friend just freeze and pop out of my vision. Seconds later, I froze too and all I can remember, is the sound of the wooden plank firmly getting back in place.

Then, I was with my friend again. In a blank, square-shaped room. In front of us was an opening, like a door but it had a unusual look to it. Almost like a mirror, when we moved to the right it gleamed. When we moved to the left, it gleamed. And when we stood in place, it just was there. A duplicate of this opening was behind us and we understood that one was to get back to the dorm.

We were trembling with a mix of fear and great keenness.

Finally some real fun.

We looked at the letters on the right of the "door", and daringly stepped in together.

2. How do we handle basic necessities?

From the beginning of this you can probably tell this wasn't an issue at all. The different rooms here have everything we need and even better.

For now, we use this penthouse for everything.

Food: We haven't completely ran out yet, but we noticed some new items appearing in the fridge. Like we're living in parallel with someone.

Same scenario goes on for sleep, cleaning up, etc.

Can't lie, we're living good. What a spot we just found.

3. Don't we have anyone waiting for us?

Meh. Not really. We only have each other right now, since we're at this boarding school. But even if we were back home with family, nobody would be "waiting". We have good reasons to think that time doesn't progress while we're in Maison Pācem.

When we came back to our room the first time, everything was as we left it. Including the date.

So, convenient. We can have fun in peace.

4. What's the plan?

Plan was originally to explore, and enjoy the place. It still is. This is definitely our special spot now. But, not long ago, it seriously hit us how many rooms there are here. We started to realize they were some we didn't really care for. So we decided to approach things differently. From a business perpective. Real life is out there, not in Maison Pācem. We don't want to isolate ourselves from society. Humans are social creatures, doing so would drive us insane. So we decided we'll start selling stuff we find here. This will help us elevate our lives. And we earn fun hanging out spots - the rooms we like we won't touch. Win-win.

5. Do we argue?

Argue as we're mad at each other, no. At least nowadays it rarely happens, used to happen more often when we were younger. But to argue for the sake of arguing, yes. Basic friendship principle.

6. Is this place really lifeless?

Yes. No trace of anything. No weird sounds, or smells. Just neat. Only thing closest to another form of life we faced was when we were at la bibliothèque. We later understood that we had took some kind of hallucinogenic that doesn't exist in our world, at least not in this form yet, back at the penthouse. Hence why we couldn't remember much afterwise.

One thing we thought about though, is the possibility of other people popping in here too just like us. We can't decide if that would be fun or dangerous yet. Because remember, there are no laws here or specific consequences.

Bad things could happen very quickly.

7. What's a hobby of the moment we share?

Chess. We decided we want to grind this game. We've been playing minimum two games per day because a revenge is always needed. See if one of us is smarter.

We agreed on this: if one of us manages to beat the other with a clean checkmate 10 times in a row, the other would have to do the disgusting, horrifying, vile even - act of giving up.

And thus, forever. No more chess.

Obligated. If you don't do it then you're a coward for not holding on to your word.

8. Name one thing that we each love.

Mh. Easy... already have it in mind. Food. I love food give me anything. Trying out new things is even more fun. If I had to name something I really like and that's just been a reliable go to:

Poke Bowls (pronounced poké.)

Flutters my heart just mentioning it. More about it below.

My friend is saying skincare.

True, I've noticed her be into that a lot lately. Even tried some of her recommendations. Always a pleasing time pampering eh. EH.

Poke Bowl - Salmon & Tuna

Description: Let's start from the bottom. At the center, hidden in the midst of soft white rice, is a bunched up mix of the crispy layer found on tempura shrimps and red and orange masago eggs (what a nice surprise it was the first time I had this). Rice is topped with fresh salad leaves, avocadoes, cucumbers and sometimes green onions. Then, the stars: diced up salmon and tuna pieces partially coated with an harmonious trio of sauces I'm naming: ponzu, teriyaki/poke & light, spicy japenese mayo. Finish with japenese spices, sesame and nori (seaweed).

Eating time

Our food is ready.

We're going back to our dorm room after savoring this salmon.

Logging off for now, until then, take care.
